World Environment Day
Viktoriapark shines again
Together with the management and students, Staytoo has carried out a garbage collection campaign in Berlin’s Viktoriapark. Equipped with garbage tongs and bags, the park was cleared of plastic, cigarette butts and other waste.
The campaign underlines Staytoo’s commitment to a clean environment. Municipalities and cleaning companies often reach their limits when it comes to waste disposal. With joint efforts, we can make an important contribution.
Why World Environment Day is so important
The increasing littering of our environment is an alarming sign. Not only municipalities and companies are overwhelmed, nature is also suffering the consequences. From polluted waters and endangered animal species to microplastics in our food chain—the effects are diverse and serious.
Here is a brief overview:
- Worldwide: an estimated 8 billion tons of plastic are produced every year, a large proportion of which ends up in the environment.
- Sea: It is estimated that hundreds of thousands of pieces of plastic waste float in every square kilometer of the oceans.
- Germany: Around 450 kilograms of waste are produced per capita in Germany every year.
- Food waste: One third of all food produced ends up in the bin.
- Microplastics: Tiny plastic particles can now be found in almost all living things, from plankton to humans.
- Landfills: Landfills release climate-damaging gases such as methane.
Staytoo’s contribution:
This campaign not only set an example, but also made a concrete contribution to protecting our environment. By lending a hand, it was shown that every individual can make a difference.
Fun and positive effects:
Admittedly, no one would have thought that collecting garbage could be so much fun! But it was like a scavenger hunt – with every piece of garbage picked up, the park became a little cleaner.
More than just a day of action:
World Environment Day was a starting signal for a cleaner environment. We want to inspire our employees to live environmental awareness in their everyday lives and actively work to protect our natural environment. Together we can start a movement.
Because only together can we achieve a lot!
